The Scottish Association for Psychodynamic Counselling (SAPC) is a members' organisation for counsellors who use psychodynamic thinking in their practice.
SAPC's aim is to enhance the professional development of counselling practitioners through the discussion of psychodynamic thinking.
The theoretical orientation is derived from the psychoanalytic tradition; psychodynamic ideas provide a rich body of theory, knowledge and research regarding the mind, interpersonal relationships and human growth and development. At the core of psychodynamic thinking are the concepts of the inner world through which outer reality is perceived, unconscious processes and the dynamic influence of the past on the present.
